The History of Mount Hope

This lovely rural style cemetery is situated on an open flowing 24 acre lot in Aston, Pennsylvania around the Mount Hope United Methodist Church and adjacent to Neumann University.

In 1777 General Washington’s Continental Army passed though this area after the Battle of Brandywine. The British army led by General Cornwallis camped on the grounds of Mount Hope before making their way to Philadelphia.

One of Mount Hope Cemetery’s earlier burial dates back to a Veteran of the Revolutionary War in the 1800’s. Veterans from each branch of the service and conflicts throughout the years are represented here. Each Spring over 1,400 flags located on the honored veteran’s graves are replaced with help from the county of Delaware and local Boy Scout troops.

All burials must be scheduled through the cemetery office.
A miminum of 48 hours advanced notice is required for all internments, an order for a Monday internment must be called into the office by 11am Friday. Tuesday internments must be called into the office by 11am Saturday the same 2 day notice is required following any holiday. The cemetery will not be held responsible for any internments scheduled before contacting the cemetery office.
Internments are scheduled Monday – Friday 9am-3pm, Saturday 9am-12pm and includes 4 chairs greens and lowering device.
If the grave site is deemed unsafe, the superintendant may suggest using an alternate area for internment service.
Tent rental is available barring high winds
Our safety, your safety, and your family’s safety are paramount.
Prior to all internments all paperwork must be presented to cemetery staff.
All burials require a vault including cremations, and a signed grave opening authorization, burial permit, and required fees.
Deeds may be required at the discretion of the cemetery staff.
Cemetery office will be closed Sundays, and New Years Day, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, - Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
